# S3 service URLs and default region names

Gcore Object Storage is compatible with any S3-compatible software. Use the service URLs and default region names listed below to connect and perform operations. The storage type (Fast or Standard) is determined by the [location you select during creation](/storage/create-an-s3-or-sftp-storage#storage-types).

The default region name is required when configuring S3-compatible clients (such as AWS CLI, boto3, or other S3 SDKs) that expect a region parameter.
